What to Practice This Week

ENSEMBLE

Repertoire

1. Gloria: Continue working on measures 88-130. Also take a look at the middle section that we haven't started yet, and begin figuring out your part. We will work on this at the next rehearsal.

2. Magic Prayer: Review again measures 1-33 and 58-74. Make sure that you can find your notes from the piano interludes. Then look at measures 75-82. Especially those of you who switch from one line to another here, please review your part carefully.

3. Jesus Child: The first verse should be memorized, and you can now memorize the second verse and the first chorus.

4. Amazing Grace: Click HERE to listen to the piece. In this performance, the first verse is done as an improvised a cappella solo, and the choir comes in when the music divides into two parts (around 1:15 in the video).

5. Cool Yule: Great work on the two-part section. Review the entire piece at home (except for the "scat" page in the middle). Click HERE to listen to a recording from jwpepper.com.

6. Imagine and Come and Sing: Returning Ensemble singers, please review these so that you can help teach our new singers next week and at camp. New and returning singers, check out Cantabile singing Come and Sing HERE.

8. Vois Sur Ton Chemin: Keep reviewing. Click HERE to watch a youtube video of the piece.

Musicianship

Pages 10-12 are due next week for all singers completing “A Young Singer’s Journey” Book III or IV. Please also view the marker’s comments at the front of the book and make sure that you have corrected any mistakes made in last week’s work.

Your secret word is “amazing”.

VOCALISE

1. Wie lieblich sing deine Wohnungen: Learn well measures 1-53, which we covered during rehearsal. Then, take a look at the rest of the piece and figure out your part. Click HERE to check out a recording.

2. Hanget Soi: Make sure your notes are solid. Click HERE to check out a recording.

3. Star Spangled Banner: Memorized.

4. It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Memorized.

5. Amazing Grace: Memorized.

6. Gloria (Will Todd): Notes, rhythms, and text should be solid.
