What to Practice This Week

ENSEMBLE

Repertoire

Your homework this week is to listen as much as possible to these pieces:

1. Cool Yule: you will soon receive a practice recording for your voice via email. In the meantime, click HERE to listen to a recording from jwpepper.com.

2. Jesus Child: you will soon receive a practice recording for your voice via email. In the meantime, those of you who have spotify can check out the recording of Jesus Child performed by the Toronto Children’s Chorus on a CD entitled, “Along The Road To Bethlehem”. (Search “Jesus Child Toronto” and it will show up.)

3. Vois Sur Ton Chemin: We will start this next week. For now, click HERE to read above the movie from which this piece comes. Then click HERE to watch a youtube video of the piece.

Musicianship

Early next week you will receive an email confirming your placement into Ensemble A or Ensemble B so that you know what time to arrive to all future rehearsals. Those of you who received A Young Singer’s Journey Book III or Book IV, complete pages 1-3 for next week.

To make sure that you’ve seen the blog this week, your secret word is “jazzy”.

VOCALISE

Amazing Grace: learn the notes and rhythms first. Then use the recording I sent you via email to try and improvise over the accompaniment! Have fun with it!

Gloria (Will Todd): learn the notes and rhythms in this one, too. Try speaking the text in rhythm first, and then add the pitches.

To make sure that you’ve seen the blog this week, your secret word is “improvisation”.

Happy Practicing!
