Concert Information for Vocalise

Wednesday, May 13: Dress Rehearsal for Spring Concert at Woodside Priory School, Portola Valley
Call Time 4:45 pm, Release 8:00 pm
Snack: Bring yourself a snack & water.

Friday, May 15: Dress Rehearsal for All Choir Concert at First United Methodist Church in Palo Alto
Call Time: 4:45pm, Release 7:45 pm (Aria Release 8:30 pm)
Uniform: EITHER wear something like a scarf or sash that represents your family’s heritage and ancestry (eg. the colors of your flag) with your Cantabile uniform, OR wear a full outfit (eg, traditional dress) that represents your family’s heritage and ancestry, OR wear full, Cantabile uniform. (No hats!)
Snack: Bring yourself a snack & water.

Saturday, May 16: All Choir Concert at First United Methodist Church in Palo Alto
Call Time 11:30 am, Release at approx. 3:30 pm
Uniform: EITHER wear something like a scarf or sash that represents your family’s heritage and ancestry (eg. the colors of your flag) with your Cantabile uniform, OR wear a full outfit (eg, traditional dress) that represents your family’s heritage and ancestry, OR wear full, Cantabile uniform (blue ties). (No hats!)

Sunday, May 17: Spring Concert at Woodside Priory School, Portola Valley – in the chapel.
Call Time 2:00 pm, Release at approx. 6:00 pm after the reception and Will Todd performance
Formal Cantabile uniform (blue ties)

Vocalise Rehearsal Notes

Shine
Measures 11-13 - practice the rhythm and make sure to lift before every move.
Last measure of page 19 - write your next note (soprano and alto sustain the same note, tenor and bass move)
Everybody - practice measures 85-88
Tenor and Bass - practice you first entrance, don't count on others.
Alto part - practice measures 57-72 (includes the key change)
Tenor part - practice key change (move from Cb to A and then C#)

Bridge Over Troubled Water
Throughout the song - "Water" with a soft t' (almost like a d')!
Practice rhythm in measures 44
Measures 82-84 - Don't sing (join on "Like a bridge..." refrain)
Measures 71-75 - Only Men+Solo (no Soprano & Alto)

For the Nair Nair part, you should only wait for your group's cues (count the fingers Gwen is showing):
Group 1 - cue 3 join Nair Nair, cue 2a sing half way through and fade out, cue 3a harmonic singing.
Group 2 - cue 4 join Nair Nair, cue 2a sing half way through and fade out, cue 3a harmonic singing.
Group 3 - cue 2a fade out, cue 3a harmonic singing.
Group 4 - cue 1a move from the note D to B, cue 2a fade out, cue 3a harmonic singing.
Group 5 - cue 1 start Nair Nair, cue 2a sing half way through and fade out, cue 3a harmonic singing.
Group 6 - cue 3 move from the note A to B (lower), cue 2a fade out, cue 3a harmonic singing.
